Recent paintings

Just unwrapped 3 more paintings from this weeks trip. Think they will need more work but the bones are there.

Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby

Great week in Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.  Two paintings on the go at Whitby. Really lucky with the weather! Managed to make a start on seven paintings and completed more drawings. Now its back to the studio to take stock and attempt to finish them.

Weekend in Whitby

Had a great weekend over in Robin hoods bay/ Whitby on a reconnaissance mission prior to a weeks painting there in a weeks time. Here's some of the dwgs. I produced-what a fabulous place can't wait to get painting.

New Studio

Moved into new studio yesterday-its a great space (approx 40m2). Its  all set up and ready to go!  Took some photos will post shortly

Moving Studio

I've outgrown my studio in Barrowford and therefore I'm moving into a new studio (which is much bigger) located at Oyston Mill Preston. Hopefully I will be up and running in early February.

Going painting tomorrow (24th) around Loweswater and Buttermere, weather forecast for strong winds.

Just got back from North Wales

Picked up all 22 paintings for my solo show from Vincent this morning and drove over to the Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddew this afternoon. The Long Gallery was in the middle of refurbishment and looks great. Can't wait to see them hung! See below one of the larger paintings 91x91cm image size.

Just got back from Cumbria

Spent a few days at Allonby (big thank you to Steve and Christine -Castlegate House Gallery) did a number of drawings on the beach on the first day. Can't believe it the day I choose to visit Allonby the sea is like a mill pond! Will have to pop back to paint the famous waves another day.
Second day visited Maryport and Loweswater. Couldn't resist searching out the spot that Sheila Fell produced her wonderful paintings of Maryport-produced a couple of drawings. Loweswater is stunning -walked the complete lake producing drawings in my sketch book.

On the final day visited Buttermere hoping for an atmospheric day and interesting skies. Once again it was a lovely day-not ideal conditions for painting! Did one painting, which turned out OK.

First Solo show 2013

I've just completed the final two paintings for my solo show in January. Everything goes to the framers on the 3rd January 2013. These final two paintings have been a real struggle and have been reworked over and over again for the past few weeks using previous paintings and drawings as reference.

Valette Series

I've been working on a large studio painting for the past 2 months using drawings of Oxford Road in Manchester (Part of the Valette series). The process has been a real struggle. I've scrapped the board down several times and re painted varous sections of the painting. I still feel that its a long way from being complete-will have to go out again to Oxford Road and do some more drawings!

Plein air studies

In Studio today making slight adjustments to some of the plein air studies-probably need a little more work will assess them again tomorrow.

Winter Light

I've been working on a canvas 91x91cm in the studio for the last 4 weeks using plein air studies. I think this is almost complete.

Winter Seascapes

Just got back from Allonby. Completed a number of sea studies-hopefully I can use these to produce some larger works in the studio. See a couple of examples below.

 

Trip to North Wales

I'm setting off for North Wales today and plan to paint for 3 days-weather permitting! My solo show at the Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw  at the end of January is getting closer-no pressure!  I've posted an image of a painting I finally completed on my last trip.
